This is a quick article that is a fast representation/reference that explains roughly what each master does in the game (so you won’t be going in a game completely blind if you don’t know what the master does in a general sense).

The Index of characteristics are….

  • A.Control = A master that has a means to control activation order or a large number of activations, typically through large volume of models like totems
  • B.Control = A master that has board control. I define board control as one of the following things: the ability to move other models around, the ability to deny other models from doing the actions they want to do, or the ability to prevent/discourage access to an area of the board.
  • Buffer = A master that improves other models in the crew.
  • Debuffer = A master that makes enemies worse at what they do.
  • H.Control = A master that can manipulate his or his opponents control hand.
  • H.Mobility = A master that has high mobility from his stats and/or abilities.
  • Interactor = A master who excels at dropping/removing/moving scheme markers,
    typically with unique abilities.
  • L.Hiring Pool = A master has a larger then normal hiring pool of models.
  • M.Blaster = A master that can place blast markers from a melee attack.
  • Melee DD = A master that can deal significant melee damage.
  • Obeyer = A master who can make another model take an action.
  • Ranged DD = A master that can deal significant ranged damage.
  • R.Blaster = A master that can place blast markers from a ranged attack.
  • Tank = A master that has defensive stats and/or abilities to keep them alive and often has abilities to prevent enemies from getting away from them.

** Means that the master needs other models for this characteristic to take effect

The order of the characteristics does matter in the listing as (1) means the model is most known for this characteristic while a (5) is less prevalent to the master. If the master has characteristic A – B that means they are equally important while characteristic A/B means that the master can do one or the other (usually this is dictated by which limited upgrade you take for it). So lets get do the masters…
